In 2005 the West Indies were included in the triangular Indian Oil Cup in Sri Lanka. India opened its account with a win against the West Indies and was imposed for their next game against Sri Lanka. India batted first and scored 220 runs. Saurav Ganguly reached the 10000-run milestone in this game and scored 51 runs off 110 balls with a forgettable strike-rate of 46.36.
